As a SOC Director I’ve had the good fortune of interviewing many web project managers. The one thing they all have in common is that they have been given an Example SOC 2 report as part of their training and are required to complete it. Here’s why I love my Example SOC 2 report.
It’s the easiest way to explain to a client what you expect from their example and in which detail you’re expecting improvement. If your Example SOC report can be a tool that gets your project manager on the same page as the project team you’re working with it will be a huge help. It’s also a great training exercise for your project manager. After getting an Example SOC report you’ll have an easier time explaining what you expect.
The beauty of an Example SOC report is that it has been tested and the results are real and tangible. You don’t just get a “run of the mill” report. You have the tools you need to quickly make any improvements that are required in your project and help them understand how you expect them to execute your instructions.
When an Example SOC report is given out by the project manager, it’s like providing a car breakdown program for your project. That’s pretty valuable because it means that all of the project team are trained and operating on the same level and the projects are producing the results you want.
An Example SOC report can also be used by any project manager who works with the project team to review their progress. Having these reports available to them to look at, will show them where their work has taken them and hopefully improve the project.
There are a lot of benefits to having an Example SOC report available. One of them is that people are more motivated to work harder when they know there is an example, and someone on the outside is looking at what’s going on in the project.
It also makes a lot of things a lot easier for everyone involved because they are “on the same page” and are able to look at examples that are similar to their own situation. This makes them much more motivated to tackle issues and problems head on which leads to faster project completion.
I don’t recommend that you use an Example SOC report as the sole basis for your project, but it can definitely come in handy when you need a little inspiration or a little bit of a push to help your team achieve their goals and the overall success of the project. If they understand how they should perform and where they are now then they will have a much better chance of meeting their targets.
